Casual
Today was the opening of AANI Harvest Festival. Very casual day for us as we knew friends will be there and the event was our homebase group :)
L-R: Pol Rubia, Gerry Manaoag, Pio Rodriguez, Zac Sarian, Doc Rey and Rene AlmedaThere were new products and exciting exhibitors so I had fun meeting some people. Different vibes. You know it when its not about agendas :) I hope this new generation is in time to really make changes.
We also looked forward to the seeing again the new Department of Agriculture's Secretary Procy Alcala. This will be our first time to see him after he was named for DA.
We all had good laughs as he saw familiar faces and knew that the "hellos" had no strings attached :) See how honest laughters are!

We were advised last night that DA Sec Procy Alacala had confirmed to attend AANI Harvest Festival opening on July 16 at 8am. Following will be a dialogue with Sec Alcala, that will be open for all.

AANI Harvest Festival
AANI Harvest Festival: Farm in the park! July 16-18 at AANI Herbal Garden, Quezon Memorial Circle.
Fiesta ambiance with farm animals, zoo, barbecues, fruits, veggies, wine tasting, free seminars, music, gardening and cooking demos. Merrymaking, Agri and Aqua Kapihan etc.
This will celebrate AANI's anniversary.

September W/ Ka Lui
You must know Ka Lui (Tabing) of Sa Kabukiran fame from DZMM (every Saturday and Sunday at 4:14-5:30am).
He is holding a seminar on September 6, Sunday, at about 2pm at AANI Quezon Memorial Circle.

Sunshine At AANI QC
AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center was relocated to the PHILCOA entrance of Quezon Memorial Circle.Better location, parking is good and the area is now airy and more visible.
Our dayold chicks' sales are handled by AANI office. Our booth will carry our dressed chickens, naturally farmed produce and other Organika products.
Instead of painting our booth...we decided on murals.

AANI Herbal Garden & Livelihood Center
Agri Aqua Network International (AANI) has relocated inside the Quezon Memorial Circle. If you are driving, enter the Commonwealth gate of Quezon Memorial Circle. right across Philippine Coconut Authority bldg (Philcoa). After you pay the parking attendant, you make a right immediately to enter the parking lot. You will instantly see the AANI area. Park right in front of the building.
Aside from the regular stalls that are open daily, there will now be a weekend market that will carry fresh produce, on Saturdays and Sundays.
Of course, we will be there. We enjoy being there with the AANI gang, eating inihaw under the trees...and entertaining the hobbyists and weekend farmers who frequent the place.
The relocation is great! Walk in sales have at least doubled if not tripled for all. See you more often there.

Are you...
Looking back or forward?
Before, I used to want the new year to begin, even as early as mid November. Maybe I wanted to get over the year? Lack of anything interesting to do? Something new was like a promise or a door to something different.
2007 and 2008 was different. Seems I didn't feel 2007 and 2008 pass. It was that hectic! I wanted to halt the last days of 2008, as there were so many things to be done yet and I didn't want to enter 2009 without the planning and listing of TO DO. Before you can do so, you have to relax to have an open mind. You need to have the possible lose ends done before you can relax. That is a big circle :)
We can't stop time though....and YES, we are now looking forward. Reopen stores and weekends markets on Saturday. We go back to Ilocos Sur on Sunday as we work closely with the project of Gov DV for his Ilocos Super Chicken.
AANI gets relocated to a much better area inside the Quezon Memorial Circle. We attend the PVMA convention in Davao and will have a seminar for Raising Sunshine Chicken about Feb19.
Wait...am suppose to relax first. Will keep you posted.

AANI Christmas Bazaar
December 11-14, to be held at the AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center, East Ave Gate, Quezon Memorial Circle.
Various agricultural products will be made available as this will be in partnership with Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
This may be the last grand activity for the year in this location, as come January 2009, we move to the other side. I actually like the new site better. Coming from Commonwealth Ave, you enter the Commonwealth entrance of Quezon Memorial Circle. You will see the AANI to your right, with perfect parking. If you are driving around the Elliptical Circle, you will find it at the tip of Commonwealth Ave, across Philippine Coconut Authority.

LGUs From Camarines Sur
LGUs of Camarines Sur requested through their Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for a farm visit to one of our growers. Coincidentally, they also spoke with AANI for a study tour.
So it was agreed, they visit one of our growers, then proceed to AANI Herbal Garden for a seminar on Raising Sunshines.

A Circle Is Good
I had been texting with this person who plans to raise Sunshines in Baras.
Next thing I knew , he shows up at Market at the Hills to purchase some dressed Sunshines. Introduced me to the obvious apple of the eye, the baby girl who has to be given good food :) There was something about him that I can't figure out.... Conversation led to our being based in Santiago City and he had an uncle there. OMG...he looked exactly like his uncle Tony. The pleasant kulit I guess is in the genes :)
Next day, he attends the seminar of Doc Rey at AANI Herbal Garden at the Quezon Memorial Circle. Few days after we go visit the future site.
Go visit what La Ferme Organique is all about. BTW, I love the logo!

Getting Stuffed Inside The Trunk
We were following this car, with a sticker of a life size bloody hand that got caught by the door of the car's trunk. Eerie humor :) Gives you the picture of a lifeless body inside that dark, stuffy, and airless trunk.
Reminded me about a topic that was agreed upon, for those short radio segments. We decided to warn you not to put your Sunshine Chicks inside your car's trunk!
Saturday past, when I got to AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center, the AANI Boy incharge of the Sunshine booth was on the phone with someone and talking about dead chicks. There must have been a great deal of misinterpretation and misunderstanding! Jeffrey must have said you can set it at the back (seat or whatever) surely, you can't let it sit inside the trunk, without fresh air :(
Anyway, things have been settled....
Bottomline....place yourself in your Sunshines' position. What you feel, they will too. Hot, need water? They too will :)

Took A Sandy Break
Was I quiet?
I missed interacting with you, but when you have your hands with wet polished nails, masque on your face and my "you can't open your eyes while at it" eyelashes being done..you can't type with wet polish nor when you can't see :) - well, that was Tuesday, yesterday.
Today I was early at AANI Circle....greeting "Good morning"! Flashing my neon colored nails (honestly, I get headaches..might be from the glare of this polish) and showing my close/open eyes weheheheh. I was telling Tita, the better half of Pol Rubia that yesterday was "MY DAY".
After AANI I went to two other suppliers to get what we needed...then headed again to the mall to get a display medium for my dressed Sunshines at Market at the Hills...shhh then I shopped a little for myself.
Well, half work/half play....
Let's see tomorrow...looks like I will be back to work. Get a copy of Manila Bulletin for Agri Plain Talk page, going to Hobbies of Asia, oh of course, it is hatching day so invoices to prepare. Have to remember to get to my printer for the working designs on the two trade shows coming up.
I really look forward to Saturdays and Sundays for MATH...Market at the Hills! Oh yes, I get Sandy weekends too.

Durian Is Coming
Do you recall last year's Durian Festival at AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center?
It will be back. Pol Rubia said the Durians are arriving Friday....so YES!!! It should be there by Saturday?
I can almost smell it...and I hope there are real ripe Puyat varieties on the first day.

Am So Excited For Cebu
Been up since 4:30am, for a radio guesting of Doc Rey with Doc Raffy Barrozo at 5am.
Logistics haven't been mapped out yet so I did deliveries for Southern Luzon this morning.
10:11am now and grabbed my Green Tea Latte while checking on emails.
Have to go now to AANI Herbal Garden for 2nd day of 1st WOW Organic Festival.
Tomorrow am excited to fly to Cebu:
1) Visit our 3 regular growers who we will meet for the first time.
2) See a longtime great friend who is at present based in Dumaguete, he goes to Cebu for dinner
3) See another good friend
4) Try the different establishments that serve the Sunshines raised by the Cebu growers
5) Meet up with Pacifica Agrivet, one of dealers
Am sure to be able to write a lot about this Cebu trip.

1st WOW Organic Festival Starts Today
I have to congratulate Desiree, Rhoda and Doc Raffy Barrozo for jobs well done in putting together the 1st WOW Organic Festival, April 18-20, AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center.
As early as 7am, there were people going around the booths. Cooking demonstration by Chef Bert attracted a lot of attention. He did a charbroiled chicken, adobo w/ herbs and his version of sinigang using Kaffir Lemon leaves. My show partner, Raymond Rubia of Daily Dose Farm, obliged the use of his organic herbs and vegetables.
GMA7 and Channel4 did interviews on the health benefits and taste of the Sunshines, after sampling the Chef's creations. Chef Bert was even referring to Sunshines as "native chickens" in his GMA7 interviews. I guess...because...LASANG NATIVE kasi.
