Coffee Break

I stood up to get a break and clicked on my email tab.....instant coffee tasted like brewed

Hi Sandy,

You are welcome!

Attached are photos of the first batch of sunshines. The first photo is the view
of Taal lake (Lipa City) where the sunshines are located. The following pics are
what's left of the batch.

Everybody loved the taste of the roasted sunshines...

Solraya Enterprises <info@solraya.com> wrote:
Thank you sa Kimchi book :)

Send me photos ng Sunshines ha.

Naubos na ba yung 1st batch? Have you tasted it? Ano feedback?

Farmer TJ's Chicken of Krukukuk Farm

This is how we were greeted by Farmer TJ and his Sunshines

After a while, they left us to roam outside :)

We made a visit to TJ in Bulacan yesterday morning. This was supposed to be scheduled early December but all our timetables went wayward when the 12th month of the year showed in the calendar.

He has rested his other housings, ranging areas and have planned to make pocket grows in several ranging areas around the vicinity. That way, he will be able to practice range rotations, biosecurity, and still monitor as he will go around his farm around.

Instead of making one time grows, Krukukuk Farm has decided to do small but frequent loadings.

May be more work intensive...but will have fresh and constant supplies. Easier to predict and keep up with supply and demand.

This was funny...I took TJ and Doc Rey's pictures in three (3) different angles. Previewing it, thinking that I was taking against the light...I moved around...we all laughed when I realized its not the light! They were both dark :)

Entrepinoys Atbp.

The Entrepinoy Atbp. is the 4th tab on my browser when I start up my Firefox.

Was talking with some guys last Sunday and we discussed about this site. The owner of the site is doing a great job there. He is able to connect the dots, that it doesn't appear like a puzzle.

I saw how that site started..really come a long way.

Today was a regular day and I normally go over comments first. A picture on the main caught my eye...looks like a photograph I took at the rooftop!

Scrolled up to read the article...it was about free range chicken. It later dawned on me that it was Sunshine Chicken :)

Dated January 5 2008? I am sure I open the site at least 3x a day...must be even like 10x a day. How could I have missed that article?

I am too shy to say "hello and thank you" to the site owner :)

Went around Pampanga today. Visiting sub dealers and potentials.

Have you tasted camaro? Those large ants? Sarapppppppppppp

We ate at Everybody's Cafe in Angeles City. Had that, Dinuguan, Tapang Kabayo...and take home of two orders of Camaro. Dinner was? Obviously :)

Next week, we go North again.

Tomorrow, we hope to visit Krukukuk.

Where Did The Banana Tree Go?

Can you spot the difference?

We never missed a weekend at AANI Circle, so feeding the Sunshines isn't an issue. Adding to that, the fact that they are surrounded by neighbors who toss them leftovers, discarded veggies etc.

Today, my Banana is gone?????

They might have had it for Buena Noche :)

Earthlink Farm in Cebu

He wanted to go into white broilers. His father said to go into Bisaya Manok. Bernard found Sunshines.

Middle of December, Bernard and I were chatting on YM. He was asking about Sunshines, I was asking his opinion on my getting a toy. That was one of the funniest chats. If a 3rd party was reading...he wouldn't know how Bernard and I understood one another.

I ended up getting the toy the next morning! And Bernard waited to get his babies after Christmas.

These Sunshines that flew to Cebu are such imps! They missed their scheduled booking on the 1st flight, good 2nd flight accommodated them. Attaching their pics to the email took years to send...well, but see...now that they are there, Bernard isn't on YM. Must be out looking at the stars with his babies.

"Hey Bernard..did I tell you I was getting another type of toy on Tue"?

Info-Ads In The Making

For our radio mileage, we are coming out with informative ads, based on FAQs we normally get. Like a "Dear Solraya" thing.

This way, we are tackling the basic FAQs, advertising, and since they will be several...it won't be monotonous hearing them :)

Although I did the concept and write-ups, I have to thank a Frank Ghost Writer for editing it to sound friendly :), Kathy for always overseeing production, and all of you who inspire us to be innovative.

Preview:

When Is The Next Seminar?

Don't let the presence or absence of seminar schedules delay your questions.

We can always meet up and do one on one talks.

But we suggest you: read up on this blog and the PCARRD thread. That way, your concerns will be more focused and our talks can zero in on real issues.

See you soon :)

Urban Farming

We are developing our rooftop to show urban farming is doable.

The project started when we wanted a demo farm. Easier to explain and show in real. It later showed us that urban farming is indeed workable. Chicken farming is possible in the city. Of course we encourage most to just raise for their own consumption. Even if you don't have a ranging area, you can do a "cut and carry" of grass, give them your fruit/vegetable kitchen/table leftovers.

So now, we are fixing it to really be a seminar area. Another office below, is being prepared for clients to be comfortable when they come to learn about the benefits of Sunshine :)

Join us through urban farming. You will find yourselves enjoying raising healthy chickens, because it is beneficial to you too...and the taste... Do you know what the taste of native chickens are?

I Love The Start Of 2008

How are you starting your 2008?

I hanged some chimes for the driveway in Fairvew. I tell you...they are chiming, humming, dinging, donging, whistling and surfing the cool breeze this morning. Looks like a great year ahead!

At about 7am, I was on the phone with a client from Tagaytay who wishes to have her order delivered later tonight. I felt jumpy about this transaction as her farm, plans for a wellness center/spa has good vibes to me. The wild unkept look of the surroundings are very ME :) She is a gardener by profession and that makes conversation with her exciting to me. So, off we go to Tagaytay later.

A little after 7am, phoned Pol Rubia of AANI to see if Circle will be open (I believe in visiting my store sites at the start of the year). YES! He will be there. Indeed, likes, work togther :) I need some herbs too, for my gardener client.

Visit mother.

Eating my defrosted fresh Durian. My last pack from 2007 harvest. Wonder if the freezer at AANI still has some treasures frozen for me. Great way to start my year...Durian!

Doc Rey has been doing the rooftop since yesterday. Fixing nets, propping up my plants, feeding the Sunshines with corn, bonding with the chickens :) Still at his power washer disinfecting today. He had to wash my car as he hits it accidentally. Easier to wash it, rather than avoid the car.

Happy New Year! Thank you so much to the people who supported us, clients who stayed through the years, new found friends and customers brought by Sunshine, organizations who believe, radio audiences who stay tuned and people in the sidelines just reading and listening. This circle props us up.

How Do You Disinfect Feeders & Waterers?

Biosecurity is important. Just like in our lives, we have to focus on what we want around us and nurture what is of importance.

31 December, gave us time to inspect our surroundings and relate it to our lives in retrospect.

We are brooding a batch for a client and moved them outdoors. Time also to upgrade to auto feeders for them. What is shown is an automatic feeder. You fill that with feeds and they are dispensed to the basin at the bottom. We hang them and adjust according to height of chicks, so they can't scratch them.

This is how we disinfect feeders, waterers, shoes, boots, brooders, screens, walls, driveways etc. We find the power washer effective as it gets to the nooks and cranny.... ..in simple terms, mga sulok sulok :)

I find it easy also that you have a big drum or pail, with water and chlorox, much like how you keep a pail to catch the dirty diapers of a baby. Dump everything there until you find the time to wash them. Then dry them under the sun.

Periodic disinfection need not be expensive. We use chlorox and let it sit under the sun. Best and free disinfectant is solar power!

YM This Morning

My YM this morning. He bought Sunshines from St. Mary's Farm in Cebu.

Bernard Neil Tanchan: ive tasted sunshine chickens already...cooked 2 ways... both very delicious
solraya: see...sarap..how did you cook it?
solraya: how did it compare to bisaya manok?
Bernard Neil Tanchan: same with bisaya manok but meatier and the meat is tender
Bernard Neil Tanchan: one is estopadong manok...have you heard of that?"
Bernard Neil Tanchan: and the other one is tinola
solraya: yes, pero i feel sayang the taste for estopado as the soy can masque the taste
solraya: sarap tinola
solraya: so slow cooking low fire?
Bernard Neil Tanchan: but it was very delicious...yes slow cooking
solraya: do u turbo chicken? rub with rosemary herbs...and turbo
Bernard Neil Tanchan: sometimes we do
solraya: i'm glad visayans know what it is to eat good chicken..luzon people only know whites
solraya: can i post this conversation? it will show your name ha
Bernard Neil Tanchan: maybe coz we are still provincianos hehe
Bernard Neil Tanchan: old people now that native is better than white chickens
solraya: yes but you are young...most people your age here think manok is jollibee
Bernard Neil Tanchan: maybe because my father let us eat bisaya manok every sunday...

Last Agree Sa Agri For Year 2007

We are privileged to be on today's Agree sa Agri. Last for the year 2007, it was a 2hr radio spot today, as Anne Bernardino will not be on board tomorrow at 4am.

Time constraints, a phone patch was done to have Doc Rey be her guest this morning. He talked about the importance of vaccinating your Sunshines and other animals as preventive measures.

Aside from schedules, he taught How To vaccinate your chicks.

Text in queries poured. That is what we want. No doubts should be left in your mind, so we can all help one another. There will be no guarantees to fail proof raising of animals....but trying to eliminate the steps that have proven wrong before, will be a big help to lessen the tuition we have to charge to experience.

Doc Rey will become more involved with Agree as Agri, not only for the Sunshines, but for your animal know how in general.

Camera

Last Friday, we went to Tagaytay as a client was loading January 02, 2008.

We were busy that day, but spur of the moment, we decided to make a quick trip.

Lunch time saw us at Cafe Lupe. Sarapppppppppppp ng Crispy Binagoongan. That made me buy the next day at AANI FTI, ingredients that inspired me to make a similar dish. But a pronto one. Like instead of the lechon kawali, I bought Lapid's Chicharon with laman and just balat :) For toppings, I got green mangoes, wansoy, lasona (the small red onions), tomatoes, red eggs and ginisang bagoong.

That lunch detoured me from my topic....burp.

I took pictures of the forestlike setting. Perfect to do it as I won't be with the delivery on January 02, plus it won't photograph well as it will be evening.

When I was reviewing pictures, they were overexposed! Can that happen to a digicam? Photos taken indoors and night time were ok. It is when taking pics outdoors that the camera decides to sit down and pout.

I got myself a camera that clicks that night :)

So....I think I make that trip to Tagaytay and since I am with a car color coding on Wednesdays, I spend the time there until I reach the 10am start of the window to enter Metro Manila. Great time to try another restaurant and take my pictures too :)

That is January 01 late evening delivery actually....see....We can't wait for 2008 to start as we can't let go of 2007 yet.

Doc Rey Agrees Sa Agri

Tomorrow, at 4am, Doc Rey will be the guest of Anne Bernardino, anchor of Agree sa Agri.

Tune in if you can :)

Biosecurity

We get requests to visit our breeder farm. Sorry, but for biosecurity reason, we do now allow visitors. It will be to your utmost interest, our clients, that we are able to maintain our breeders in top health. Even amongst us partners, we refrain from doing so, as we have one assigned to breeding anyway, while others are assigned to finance and marketing.

That is the main reason why we maintain our booths at AANI FTI, AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center and our demo on urban farming at the rooftop of our Fairview outlet.

You will see us there and able to get one on one pointers in raising our Sunshine Chickens.

Periodically, we have our free seminars. If you want seminars in your area, coordinate with your local DA, Municipal officers etc and advise them that we may be contacted for FREE SEMINARS in your area.

Recent dispersals have been in CAR, Bicol and Batangas.

Let's work hand in hand with government to give us all, Sunshines on our tables and to help us in livelihood.

We didn't decide to call it Sunshine for nothing. Sunshine gives us freshness and hope...it doesn't cost a lot to raise Sunshines... let's not forget the health benefits and of course the taste. Lasang native!
