Extensive & Entertaining

Yet...thinks like a dummy :)

Not too long ago, I got a call from someone who does contract growing for commercial white broilers, for a large food company.

He said his interest has been picked when he saw the colored chicks in the last Agrilink 2009. He asked, researched and read around.

"Of all the pages and websites about free range chickens, yours is the most extensive and entertaining to read...there is humor" I have to take a bow in gratitude :)

I added that... "I also hope that the point of view of a layman who doesn't know anything in poultry management is obvious. Like learning from the eyes of a dummy". He said YES...pretty obvious since he knows poultry...but the layman's point of view makes things easier to understand and to believe. It doesn't have hifaluting terms and description that makes it hard to comprehend nor believe as a doable project .

And yes, I talk about the ups and downs. Just like my favorite Christmas series that just ended... there were no right nor wrong characters. Their character development even when bad, stemmed from something real and credible. And the bidas and goodmen, were not all good and perfect....everyone and everything was portrayed as real. No perfect 10s, nor flunking 1s here. Remember Kramer vs Kramer...same. No one among the divorcing couple was right nor wrong.

Geezzzzz.....am getting so engrossed in my characters!

I am thankful for people finding us real educating...and gives them smiles too. I am a frustrated script writer, really! It is people like you who motivate me to learn more to be able to write about my passion.

Even When It Rains, We Can Have Sunshine

Although it was a rainy day, I was excited for this month's seminar at Fairview because I can test the seminar toys we got to make the teachings more enjoyable by both parties.

The previous seminars were stressful moments: the projector wall area was always blurry, we didn't have a proper sound system and the room has an echo effect, the room can take in max of 20.

That had to change...plus the fact that we always did out of town seminars and we can't rely nor dictate on equipments!

We got a roll up and go, portable projector screen that weighs 6k, so easy to carry around. By changing the orientation on the room, we can now fit about 25-30 max. No more exerting your vocal chords? A lapel microphone that has a belt type amplifier.

Everything was great today. Power point and laser pointer that acts as mouse worked perfectly too :)

Monthly Seminars In Fairview

We didn't expect the response we will be getting for the monthly seminars held every 4th Sunday.

Starting May 2008, we will limit the number to a total of 30 participants.

Pls reserve and pay for seminar fee so we can have a cutoff for slot acceptance.

This move will benefit all so we can be more focused.

Also, we remind all that please come before 2pm. Doors close at 2pm. Refrain from leaving and re-entering the room during the seminar.

See you there.

March Seminar

Yesterday was the Easter Sunday. Our scheduled seminars are every 4th Sunday of the month, and fell on Easter this year.

We were expecting two or three to attend....we got 9. A 10th found the venue way too late to join.

The best part about getting a small group at a time when you are supposed to be on vacation? You get an interested, serious and varied personas.

I myself was attentive during the seminar and forgot to take photos!

Days just flies by, like by units of breathes, when you are busy. Am now in Isabela, but will be there, there and further there in the next few days....whew...not yet counting the blocked off dates for the coming up trade shows.

We are excited about the Bonsai Show (we don't know exact name yet), May3-11, Araneta Coliseum parking area. This will incoporate agriculural, tourism, cultural themes and events. Of course, we are preparing for IFEX Philippines, May16-20, SMX beside Mall of Asia.

Exciting to work with dynamic teams.

Sunshine Seminars

We have decided to set aside every 4th Sunday of the month as our homebase seminar schedule.

WHAT: Sunshine Seminar
WHEN: Every 4th Sunday of the month, 2-5pm
WHERE: Due to renovations in Fairview, we will hold it in: 19 Lipa Rd, Philam Homes, QC. You may enter thru West Ave or EDSA gates. Accessible by train, bus or jeep.
FEE: PHP450 prepaid, PHP500 walk-in
WHAT DO YOU GET: Basic lecture on raising pastured chickens, from day1 to harvest
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU:
1) The seminar will start on time, no one will be allowed to enter after 2pm. No exceptions. It distracts everyone and you missed other points taken up already. So please come early.
2) No eating, no smoking inside the seminar room.
3) No children allowed inside. Only paying participants are allowed to enter.

We will go on with the seminar irregardless of number of participants. We are used to doing one-on-one talks so this schedule will be beneficial to all, plus groups encourage questions and everyone learns.

This will be no frills, no treats, no meals...but you will get what you came for....How To Raise Pastured Chickens.

It will be a presumption that there will be participants who know nothing of equipments needed, usage etc. This seminar will be from ABC.

Due to unforseen response, we will limit the number of participants to Twenty-Five (25). Please book space in advance.

Book and pay in advance, so we can properly allot seminar slots.

For walk-in attendees, fee will be PHP500.

When Is The Next Seminar?

Don't let the presence or absence of seminar schedules delay your questions.

We can always meet up and do one on one talks.

But we suggest you: read up on this blog and the PCARRD thread. That way, your concerns will be more focused and our talks can zero in on real issues.

See you soon :)

Urban Farming

We are developing our rooftop to show urban farming is doable.

The project started when we wanted a demo farm. Easier to explain and show in real. It later showed us that urban farming is indeed workable. Chicken farming is possible in the city. Of course we encourage most to just raise for their own consumption. Even if you don't have a ranging area, you can do a "cut and carry" of grass, give them your fruit/vegetable kitchen/table leftovers.

So now, we are fixing it to really be a seminar area. Another office below, is being prepared for clients to be comfortable when they come to learn about the benefits of Sunshine :)

Join us through urban farming. You will find yourselves enjoying raising healthy chickens, because it is beneficial to you too...and the taste... Do you know what the taste of native chickens are?

An Upcoming Seminar, A Favorite Business Forum & A Gardening Thread

These three elements that kept me busy and entertained yesterday made me think of what I can have inside my AANI booth after the seminar on September 02.

Last seminar left me hungry as men don't really eat and it was hard to order as it interrupts conversation. Mika, TJ's princess, am sure also wanted nice sweets while listening to adults talk chicken, rare fruit trees and bolahan.

My sweet tooth, Mika's image, wanting to spruce up a rather drab looking booth while in the process of fixing it (we got the next door space too so just in time to plan the new design) led me to order these plants :)

Tj's flexibility outdid Sunshine :)

I came from an 8hr drive, had a 2hr sleep, had a hilarious nightmare about the seminar, woke up relieved that it was not real, texted TJ to wake up, got ready to go, drove myself as the "tamiya" will have to go to AANI too for the stocks for the booth.

As I parked, I opened the back, NO LAPTOP NO PROJECTOR! I thought "wow, the vet driving the tamiya must have been extra nice to make sure I didn't carry anything" :)

I called and inquired....nope he didn't do it! I walked slowly thinking how to tell TJ. The moment he saw me and was informed, he called his partner Jop to make sure he brought his flash stick and good thing the venue had a laptop and projector.

No one noticed that we lacked paraphernalia of pics from all batches...TJ was best under pressure. Doc Rey commented, the best seminar he had ever seen for the free range chicken. It came straight from the heart and was done in layman's terms.

One thing I noticed...no one from the audience had any smart alecky questions nor comments.

FREE Sunshine Seminar - at AGRI-KAPIHAN AUG 5, Sunday, 9am

We will have a talk about Sunshine Chicken during the Agri-Kapihan on August 05, 2007 at 8am, AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center.

To tackle the FAQs, our speakers will be first time growers, who have not had real experience in the poultry business nor of growing. That way, they will be able to speak from a point of view that will be similar to most of the attendees. They themselves were just introduced to Sunshine Chicken thru the PCARRD forum.

We will also have a sheduled seminar during the AGRILINK Oct4-6, World Trade Center.

No fees for both seminars.

See you :)
