Be Nosey

For biosecurity reasons, we rarely go to the site of the breeders. The capitalization is no cough, so we try to keep the place clean to the best of our abilities.

Aside from marketing, documentations are part of my job, so government testing trips is one of my rare visits to the breeders.

It was a nippy comfortably cool morning. I thought morning still as we started real early from Manila. Looking at my watch it was towards noon already. Still cool. Sure, it is December. But aside from that, our buildings are surrounded by trees.

In today's blood testing by BAI's team of Doc Arlene and Hermie, they commented that our farm is one of the rare ones that has no odor at all....zero. It actually smells fresh. No flies too!

If only you can smell through photos....

And if you can see the multi colored butterflies....

You will know the place is clean :)

Sunshine Breeders Welcomed Zac Sarian

In my excitement about planning the farm visits to the different Sunshine growers, as Zac Sarian wanted to interview and write about them, I forgot to post about his visit to our breeder farm!

Of course, how can he have the interest on the entrepreneurship side of the growers if he wasn't introduced to the breeders.

We first met Zac at the the opening day of Agrilink 2007. After the ribbon was cut and the public was allowed in, a man approached me and said I should take a look at the photo in that day's Manila Bulletin, the page announcing the start of Agrilink 2007. He handed me a copy of the paper, introduced himself and said he will contact us for an interview.

In last Sunday's Kaunlaran Sa Agrikultura, DWWW 774, and after the regular breakfast to have small talk with the KSA family, we went to where the Sunshine breeders were.

He visited our two batches of breeders and hatchery. The 1st batch is the one producing the Sunshine F1s now and the 2nd batch of breeders that replaces 1st batch. The 3rd batch is already on the planning stage.

It was over lunch of super tasting Sinampalukang Manok, Adobong Manok, Inihaw na Tilapia and Bangus and Ensalada, that it was brought up that he wanted to visit the growers too, not just limited to Luzon but also in Vismin.

On the drive back to Manila, that was when I thought about farm visit number #1.

Biosecurity

We get requests to visit our breeder farm. Sorry, but for biosecurity reason, we do now allow visitors. It will be to your utmost interest, our clients, that we are able to maintain our breeders in top health. Even amongst us partners, we refrain from doing so, as we have one assigned to breeding anyway, while others are assigned to finance and marketing.

That is the main reason why we maintain our booths at AANI FTI, AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center and our demo on urban farming at the rooftop of our Fairview outlet.

You will see us there and able to get one on one pointers in raising our Sunshine Chickens.

Periodically, we have our free seminars. If you want seminars in your area, coordinate with your local DA, Municipal officers etc and advise them that we may be contacted for FREE SEMINARS in your area.

Recent dispersals have been in CAR, Bicol and Batangas.

Let's work hand in hand with government to give us all, Sunshines on our tables and to help us in livelihood.

We didn't decide to call it Sunshine for nothing. Sunshine gives us freshness and hope...it doesn't cost a lot to raise Sunshines... let's not forget the health benefits and of course the taste. Lasang native!

Breeders at 18weeks

We had a 3rd egg drop (all three from the same pen) yesterday and a 4th one today from another pen :)

Look at how the breeders are at week18. Starting to court the females.

EGG DROP

I get a call this morning from the farm that we had an egg drop yesterday :)

They are now going to do the mixing of the males and females.

Exciting...it's like waiting in the delivery room area.

Sunshine Breeders

Stages of our Sunshine breeders :)

We are now building our own hatchery for biosecurity reasons. Planning for the next batch of importation of Parent Stocks have been discussed.
