North Route

Sunday after delivering the dressed Sunshines for Adela Ang's use in her new healthy food bar at EDSA Garden House, we jumped in our mobile house (that is what we now term the truck or the SUV as we literally get to sleep in them) and headed for Vigan.

If you follow the agriculture news these days, you know how Ilocos Sur uses Sunshine Chicks for their dispersal and called them Ilocos Super Chicken....:) parang Superchick!

Feeling under the sheets, but thanks to laptops and business centers, am able to do my paperwork while in the comforts of Vigan Plaza Hotel.....I tried to step out yesterday....so hot huh...I used the alibi of Asthma to stay indoors.

Anyway, enroute to La Union to check on a grower's new brooding area. Initial loading is not a laughing matter and since the grower has a market already, we want to make sure his learning curve will be minimal.

Up to Baguio, as I enjoyed the Ube Jam I got there the last time. I will stock on them and sell them at Organika. We've tried a lot of Ube Jams, this one is chewy, rightly sweet, I like it.

Go for a peep at our Santiago City outlet for a day, via Ambucalao Dam from Baguio. You have to do this route, very scenic and its a safer roller coaster ride.

By friday morning, we have to be back inManila as we have to do a live guesting for a radio program. That will be a separate post. The title should be cute.

Everything PHP35

I think that was how I understood Adela Ang of EDSA Garden House in her newest venture, back to her first love, food preparation.

Saw her over breakfast during yesterdays Agri Kapihan, after Kaularan sa Agrikulutura. She asked about dressed Sunshines and she was going to get a rotisserie. "I have a brandnew one, never been used....go use it". So last night, we delivered the dressed Sunshines she will marinade.

She was busy in the kitchen making iced coolers. She made me taste the banana con lanka con macapuno..sweeted with sugar cane juice...SARAP! There was another variant using Ube instead of Bananas. That treat will be priced at PHP35. She brought in fresh greens with salad dressing, PHP35 too. Our Sunshines will be roasted and cut, served with veggies for PHP35. Adela said all PHP35...but then she mentioned juices at PHP10 : She should have served it in a large tumbler and priced it at PHP35.

If I understood her properly..it will be like the fair chits style. You prepay chits that will be used to pay for food you purchase, w/c is almost all priced at PHP35. That way, she eliminates a lot of personnel.

She toured me to her kitchen...you see the little girl grinning with glee in her new playhouse.

You should support her new vision: giving you simple, healthy, well priced food. Plus, her best reward is, she gets to do what she loves most...cooking.

She will start operation on February 26.

Wheatgrass Juice

Years ago, when I used to watch a lot of movies, I was interested in that tray of grass corporate offices had in the movie scenes. They snip a bunch, juice it and drink up, much like a tonic.

I knew it was called wheatgrass..but never saw it here.

Until....last week...at EDSA Garden House.

It has a sweet taste....sarap actually.

Hey Gay, I Got Proof

Remember my post on Edsa Garden House Cooking Demo?

Gay Carillo was teasing me that I should have proof. Well, if you are the photog, the planner, the director and the troubleshooter....you only take photos of yourself when trying out the camera :)

Yesterday afternoon, while I was backing up my data for the day, while waiting for the blink blink of my flash drive to subside....I played and searched my name on the internet.

wehhehheheh, guess what...I found proof of that cooking demo.

See Abby Lim's post on Cooking Free Range Chicken
.

GAY...calling GAY!!!! Aside from the pic...Abby said it was delicious.

Thank you Abby....Looking back to that afternoon, vibes leads me to think that you were the one seated at the back, quietly, alone?

Your post made my day....tsup tsup tsup.

Today Was Great

Raymond of Daily Dose Farm, Amy and Allan of Great View Farm and I met at about 10am at Cafe Amadeo, AANI Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center. Btw, those are two blogs I enjoy for simple reading yet their style of writing drops you in the middle of Candelaria and Gen San.

Of course we talked about organic farming, books of Raymond, how one has to unlearn things to learn to go organic and Great View Farm's first Sunshines.

Pleasant to meet there because coffee is good, parking is everywhere, people know one another, quiet and informal.

Time flew and I just realized it was noon as the AANI office had their door closed for lunch....so we hied of to Kamameshi for our organic sashimi :)

Since we were discussing about EDSA Garden House, I drove Amy and Allan for a go-see. Good that Adela Ang, the owner, was there. They saw how hands-on she was in the business as she herself was harvesting the herbs for delivery to a client.

Since Allan was flying out tomorrow, I left them to visit family and just wished to see them again next time.

Tomorrow is a huge day ahead.... as I will be alone to meet up with the "technical" clients. I prefer the "know nothing" clients as our minds just free range together.

EDSA Garden House, Cooking Demo

People who really know me will ask what I will do in a cooking demo. So do I.

When EDSA Garden House asked me to do a demo using herbs, I knew exactly that I will ask one of my PR people to do it for me.

All was set, Mitos was to do it but she had to run to the mall first for some errands.

I was around the venue at 10ish. Picked herbs by smelling around :). Had freshly slaughtered Sunshines. Chop chop chop. Rub rub rub. Preparing things.

Took a picture of my feet in my cute sneakers, to take away the tension wehehehhe.

1pm, no Mitos yet. Well, still a good 1hr away. By 1:45 Doc Rey was frantic and anxious. "Where was the demo person"? I said, "So be it, I can and will do it". He said snappily "Hind ka naman marunong magluto, mapapahiya tayo"!

I stood up at 2pm and started it by:
I don't know how to cook and wasn't scheduled to do this, but how can I go wrong w/ great tasting Sunshines and herbs.....
Meantime that I set the Tanglad Tinola on the stove and the turbo for my Herbed Sunshine Roasts atop Potato Marbles, Doc Rey regaled the participants with the story of the sad chickens and now the Sunshines as poor man's chickens.

Mitos came in 45mins late, surprised to see the progress of my Tinola and Turbo Roasted Sunshines.... and declared it was soon to be served.

You should see the sigh of relief on Doc Rey's face as people were eating my cooking! They were asking for seconds....even the potatoes went fast.

I was busy serving and answering questions.....should have had pics of my cooking :)

Kaunlaran sa Agrikultura

We had been absent for sometime during the Sunday, Kaunlaran sa Agrikultura of DWWW 774.

Today, as I was driving to DWWW, I mentioned to Doc Rey..... "feels like going home"!

Nina is still on maternity leave. Zac, the bunso, is sick (kulang sa Chakara tea).

It was Ka Pio's bday. But birthday or not, the group is always in a jolly and eating mood. The best parts are during station IDs when everyone engages in small talks.

The EDSA Garden House team was there, Pearl and Adela. Guest for today was Dir Adora of BFAR who talked about Mariculture Parks.

I took photos from where I was sitting. Note that the food was on our side :)

The first run of our info-ads for national radio was done today.
