They Have To Know

You can't sell what they don't know.

Educate the consumer. Explain and teach. Make it available....but of course, let them know first that you have it!

We prepared for the packed comfort food Adobo. Packed rotisserie cooked Sunshines also were prepared for soup stocks and salads. Now the freezers are stocked.

Done with the consumer awareness stuff...at least with the existing clients :) Now, we had to inform them that we have the comfort foods available. Why is is convenient and how to use it. Also, that is perfectly packaged for their dear relatives in faraway lands. They can send them the taste that they grew up with and more!

Effective....we had been delivering, and the orders have started to come.

Comfort Food

While sitting at a restaurant in Vigan yesterday, next to us was a group of all balikbayans. Looks like maybe classmates from the US who attended a school reunion and made a sidetrip to Ilocos region. Talk about my own scriptwriting and storytelling here wehehehehe

Anyway, they all ordered Max' Fried Chicken. Yes you may ask....why were we at Max' hahhahah. We needed to have a quick meal. That was next door to our hotel, and Leona's does have good food, BUT you will have to be patient when it comes to service.

Back to comfort food. That is a good business idea. Cook your Sunshines into different viands. For adobo, you may even research on the regional varieties. The taste of native chicken that Sunshine Chicken has, will give the your viands the basic home cooked, comfort food that the relatives from afar always whine about.

The balikbayans not just eat here the food they miss. They buy tons to take home to stock in their huge freezers and they love to give them to friends and relatives as pasalubong.

Pack them well, spill proof and smell proof. Last time Doc Rey's siblings from the US were here, they appreciated the vacuum packed goodies they brought home with them.

I hope to bring you more business ideas. Read and select the ones that may apply to you. Remember, you have to love what you are doing. It is the passion that will sustain you through the rough times.

Comfort of Lynn's Arroz Caldo

After the rush of the past week and realizing how nippy the weather can get....you start to crave for your comfort foods. One of which for me is a simple Arroz Caldo.

I never knew how to make one before, until Lynn taught me to. Simple, but the love that goes with being patient in bringing out the flavors, is the key to the goodness of it.

Lynn's Arroz Caldo

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole SUNSHINE chicken, cut up to small pieces
  • oil
  • garlic
  • onions
  • ginger
  • fish sauce
  • 1 C rice
  • ½ C malagkit
  • 6 C water, you may add more water while simmering, to suit the consistency you want kasubha or saffron, for aroma and color
  • chopped spring onions leaves
  • fried garlic

Directions:
In the cooking vessel, pour oil and place your garlic. Place atop low fire and let the garlic reach color tan, then add onions until wilted, then ginger. Do all that in low fire, slow cooking to blend all the flavors well. Add the chicken pieces, braise, until slightly brown. Season with fish sauce. Mix well. Put the rice and malagkit, mix well. Add the kasubha or saffron, blend. Increase heat a bit. Add the water and bring to a boil. Lower heat to slow cook. Stir often to make sure the rice does not get overcooked nor stick to the bottom. You will know it is cooked by the consistency. About 5mins before you are done, add the chicken liver (optional). Serve hot, top with chopped onion leaves and fried garlic. You may want some fish sauce and kalamansi on the side.
