Ready For 2010

Fully booked for the past months, so steps had been made and we are now ready to serve the additional demand on our dayold chicks and dressed chickens for 2010.

For January, we are hatching 2x a week.

Thank you for believing.

When Are Fakes More Expensive?

Yesterday, Doc Rey came across a vendor of obviously fake SASSO chicks. Why obviously fake? Because Solraya, to date, is the only importer of Certified Parent Stocks from SASSO of France since we cemented talks in 2007. Even our competitor has to point to us as the only source of SASSO origins, in the Philippines.

Back to Doc Rey... He approached the chick vendor and asked what was being sold. The man replied SASSO, but said they were crossed. He was selling at PHP50 per chick! Doc Rey listened to him say that out of the number of eggs he sets in the incubator, he gets 75% hatchability. Not too bad you may say, huh? But wait....he continues that out of the 75% that hatches, 50% lives on day1. The number continues to dwindle during brooding stage.

That leaves him with about 37.5% of production at day1. No wonder he has to sell at PHP50. Do you think that is a fair price if not expensive? Considering that we are at PHP35....he is cheap!

Why will I say that he sells cheaply? The man doesn't have the economies of scale. He may just have 350-1000 heads. He spends a lot on feeds for such a poor production. Even if he grew his inbred chicks for meat production, he will lose money and time because of slow growth. Most importantly, he loses a lot on his expectations.

As I always say....IF it was profitable to cross breed and in breed, why will we be periodically importing Certified Parent Stocks? Why don't the big companies who are into the industrial chickens just inbreed? Who amongst the farms that inbred have sustained the business?

Are the fakes expensive or cheap? Wehehhe its like seeing the black dot or the white paper. Expensive for the buyer, but cheap price for the seller...that's the reality.

We Are at PHP30 Pick Up. But...

We encourage you to pick up at day old.

We want to simplify our flow of work, both paperwork and manual labor for our staff at our own outlets

How do we do it?

1) Make the pick up price of PHP30 only on Mondays and Fridays. Since we hatch Thursdays and Sundays, getting it from us at day old will be beneficial for you and us. You, for biosecurity reasons. For us, so we don't ask our staff to do additional work.

2) For that price, we will do it for the pre-ordered and pre-paid (may be done through bank) transactions. That way, we are able to fix our schedules and bookings before the busy delivery days. Paperwork is done in advance.

3) All other walk-in and telephone transactions, will be at php35. This will cover for the work our staff has to do in brooding etc

4) Delivered prices will depend on location.

5) Selling prices of our dealers are different. Most of our bigger dealers have very fair prices. Cheaper to get from them than to transact with us if you are outside Metro Manila anyway.

Actually we don't want to increase. We just want to make it easy for all. Pre-book, pre-pay and pick up to get PHP30.

Thank you :)

Thank You

As I type this, we are entering the new week from a very successful show for us, AFEX 2008 (that will be a separate post).

Settling down over coffee, I thought of the more important things that need remembrance today....

1) Support we get from Agri Aqua Network International (AANI) and Friends of AANI
2) Partnerships that are workable
3) Real friends
4) Inquisitive people, because it makes us think and innovate
5) Other people, because we see the light beyond them :)
6) Trials....oh the mounds we have to climb as ants...I think that is where our staying power comes from
7) Today....everyday is great. Today is September 7, several good people are celebrating their birthdates

In April of 2007, our Sunshines were priced at PHP55 due to starting costs....October 2007 at PHP38. I remember Doc Rey saying to someone at AANI Herbal Garden that we will aim to bring prices down when our production increases and production costs are lower for us due to volume.

Why do we want to bring prices of Sunshine chicks down? So people will really have an option to what kind of chicken they want to raise and eat. Will it be the white chicke or the free ranged colored Sunshines?

Today, we have tripled production from those birth stages, lowering production costs. One step to goals...slowly, steadily, we hope to get there.

Introducing improved Sunshines ..

Today, we are lowering our pricing to PHP30
. Exclusively pick up from our stores and AANI outlets.

Our Region 2 stores tested this pricing last week and the response was great! People are switched to buying Sunshines over the white chicks.

Perfect for Christmas.
